AKC Events

Fast CAT is a 100-yard dash where dogs race against the clock, chasing a lure down a straight track. It’s a fun, competitive sport that any dog—purebred or mixed breed—can enjoy. Each dog runs individually, and their speed is measured to earn points toward AKC titles.

Our team here at Rappahannock Racing Dogs is here to help your club have the safest and best event possible. Due to AKC rules concerning show committees and their required presence at events, we have only two packages for AKC clubs wishing to contract with Rappahannock Racing Dogs for their FastCat event.

Turn Key Trial

Your club provides the trial committee of 5 members, three of which must be at the trial at all times. These club members can assist in check in, hunt master, exit gate, and fitness check.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs provides all of the equipment required by AKC as well as 2 certified lure operators and 1 event supervisor.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs will unpack, set up, operate equipment, pack up after the event requiring no assistance from the club.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs will act as show secretary for the event handling all registration for pre-registration as well as day of registration (if desired) for the event. Our preferred provider for registration is EagerDog.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs will provide qualifying ribbons as well as rosettes for BCAT, DCAT, and FCAT titles earned at the event.
No club volunteers are needed for set up or pick up and the club receives a portion of the event registration after expenses and AKC recording fees.

Basic Trial

Your club provides the trial committe of 5 members, three of which must be at the trial at all times. These club members can assist in check in, hunt master, exit gate, and fitness check.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs provides all of the equipment required by AKC as well as 1 certified lure operator and 1 event supervisor.
Rappahannock Racing Dogs will operate equipment during the trial and the club will provide volunteers to unpack, set up (supervised by RRD), and pack up after the event. Minimum of 6 volunteers in addition to the show committee.
The club can hire, or have someone act as, the show secretary for the event, in which case they are responsible for all paperwork, entries, and reporting or they can hire Rappahannock Racing Dogs to be their show secretary. We use Eager Dog as our preferred registration provider.
The sponsoring club will provide qualifying ribbons as well as rosettes for BCAT, DCAT, and FCAT titles earned at the event.
The sponsoring club is responsible for providing volunteers for after the event to pack and load equipment, under RRD supervision and will receive a larger portion of revenue of the registration fees following the deduction of expenses and AKC recording fees.
